..:¡Ya Basta!:.. EZLN defined:

The Zapatista Army of National Liberation (Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional, EZLN) is an armed revolutionary group based in Mexico's most southern state of Chiapas, one of the poorest states in the country. EZLN mainly consists of indigenous peoples, but they do have some supporters in urban areas as well as support on an international level on the web (wikipedia, 2005).

The majority of Zapatistas are simple peasants

Some have designated the Zapatista movement as the first post-modern revolution: an armed yet non-violent revolutionary group that incorporates modern technologies like satellite telephone, the World Wide Web and other mediums of global communication as a way to obtain support domestically and abroad. The Zapatistas consider themselves part of an anti-economic globalization movement that is spreading to many agrarian societies around the world (wikipedia, 2005).

The Zapatistas have 11 general demands as outlined in their 1st declaration from the Lancandon jungle. These include work, land, shelter, food, health, education, independence, freedom, democracy, justice, and peace ( Latin American & Iberian Institute, 2005).
