My first impressions of Birmingham weren’t all that positive. Then my buddy Dilshan and I started running… and running… and running some more. Over our two runs that week we cleared about nine miles, always covering new turf and seeking out different nooks and crannies around the city.

This shot was taken at the end of a long, all uphill jog in the sweltering summer heat to the Vulcan Statue on the south side of town.
